Fantasy island in Brazil: Florianopolis

Nicknamed “Floripa” by the locals and “The Island of Dreams” by travelers, this idyllic island city is a beach lover’s mecca. Florianopolis is ripe with Portuguese colonial architecture, colorful markets, and surfing hot spots. This vibrant island is also peppered with delightful fishing community enclaves, giving it a unique and authentic charm. Perhaps what the island is most famous for, however, is its tropical luxury vacation spots that reside along the best of Floripa’s forty or so sparkling white beaches.

Named just a few years ago by the New York Times as the “Party Destination of the Year,” Jurerê is a posh resort town that is practically brimming with Brazilian models, gorgeous yachts, and breathtaking luxury rental villas. A glittering protected stretch of beach offers resort inhabitants access to phenomenal swimming, a myriad of water sports, and some of the best people watching in the world. What Jurerê is really known for, though, is its banging nightlife. Four exclusive beach clubs line the shore, each of which hosts exotic and thrilling parties that last from the lazy afternoon hours until the early hours of the morning. Travelers should be sure to check out the Praia Café de la Musique, a happening nightclub that is owned by former model and New York nightclub entrepreneur, Jeffrey Jah. The nightlife isn’t limited to beach club parties either. Fantastic restaurants like Haikai Sushi Loungeand Donna Jurerê Internacional offer luxury travelers a calmer environment in which to enjoy fresh local food and mixologist-concocted beverages. Jurerê is unique in the fact that living like a local really means renting a private villa and socializing on the beach. The resort town is incredibly welcoming, and is filled with every comfort and amenity that a luxury traveler could desire.

In the center of Floripa lies a luscious lagoon, on the shores of which the district of Lagoa de Conceição is nestled. This region is home to numerous internationally famous surfing waters, notably Praia Mole Beach and Joaquina Beach. Behind the beaches, forested hills and tiny villages form a gorgeous backdrop to the lagoon city. Aside from being a surfing mecca, Lagoa also boasts some of the trendiest bars, nightclubs, and gastronomy in all of Brazil. Bars line the beaches with thumping DJ music. For a hot and steamy night head to Barraco da Mole. And, further in from the beach, travelers will find that Lagoa is home to many of Brazil’s creative types. Artists, musicians, and writers gather at the Confraria Des Artes nightclub, to dance and debate over some of the finest cocktails in the region. Hire a nightlife tour guide to find the hottest nights. The region is so vibrant and fast-paced that there are constantly new openings, fresh chefs, and special events happening.

Floripa has dozens of gorgeous beaches catered to surfers, luxury travelers, parties, and sometimes a bit of all three. With the city’s hectic nightlife, animated streets, and dynamic restaurant scene, travelers often spend the day unwinding on the glistening sands that cover the island.

This breathtaking island caters to elite travelers and has much in the way of beachfront rentals properties. Whether you are looking for a quiet stretch of private sand, a clear infinity pool with views of the ocean, or a luxury rental villa within walking distance to the most happening night clubs. Floripa can fulfill all your vacation fantasies on one of its forty plus beaches. This island serves as one of the most varied and exciting destinations for luxury travelers.
